Our aim is to create the awe and wonder in the classroom that inspires and engages students.  Our new programs of learning develop the understanding required for a high level of scientific literacy as well as the key skills our students need to be effective independent learners of the future. We have been a Pilot and Trial school of the new QCA initiative 'Assessing Pupil Progress' (APP) which underpins the development of skills throughout the curriculum.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum has undergone a great deal of change with the introduction of the new program of study, science framework and APP program. Our Independent Learning Strategy is designed to reflect these changes and provide a greater level of support for both students and guidance for parents.

The use of Independent learning Booklets encourages students to become independent learners through managing their own work load and deadlines. The booklets are level appropriate, supporting progression and provides opportunities for students to demonstrated thier learning through their preferred learning style. Students are also encouraged to use a range of support to complete these booklets which helps them to develop research, communication and social skills.
