Letter to Parents 15.10.2021

October 15th 2021

Another week has flown by and it is hard to believe that half term is fast approaching.

We have enjoyed another action-packed week at school with growing numbers taking part in our Elevate Programme which Mrs Benny has co-ordinated. Equally impressive have been the numbers of students taking part in sporting fixtures on the school site. I was very proud to stand on the side lines and watch the netballers on Thursday after school-they played with huge amounts of energy, enthusiasm and commitment. It is invigorating to see the extra-curricular provision take off after the long months of restrictions when such activities were prohibited.

Also on Thursday evening, we held our final Open Event for prospective Year 7 students. This was the busiest evening of the three that have taken place in school. Once again, our students were the stars of the show as they led tours of the school site and answered all the questions that they were asked with pride and confidence.

The local community have been keen to speak with me and I was delighted to welcome the Mayor of Falmouth, the Deputy Mayor, Local and County Councillors to Falmouth School on Tuesday afternoon. They are strong advocates of the school and I had not quite realised how much love there is for this school in the Community. This is the time for us to take an active part and to make a difference in the town and I am pleased to report that the Junior Leadership Team will be welcoming members from Plastic Free Falmouth to their future meetings. We have joined the following organisation and details of what they do can be found here https://plasticfreeschools.org.uk In addition to this work, we have also been invited to take part in a community outreach garden project-more details will follow later this year.

In other news, we have now heard from the School Immunisation Team who have offered us some dates when they are able to deliver the COVID-19 Vaccine to children aged 12-15 and the Nasal Flu vaccine to all students within the school subject to consent. At the time of writing, we had yet to receive the parental consent letters. Please be assured that these will be forwarded to you as soon as we are in receipt of them.

I wish you all a lovely weekend.

Yours Sincerely.

Mrs. de Sousa
