Investigating the potential of a Falmouth MAT (Multi Academy Trust)

May 16th 2016

Dear Parents, Carers and members of our community

There have been many recent national announcements about the benefits of schools working formally together and the future of Local Education Authorities. At the forefront of these national plans are the plans to promote school to school collaboration.

Falmouth School and the Killigrew Partnership (King Charles Primary School and St Francis Primary School) have worked closely and effectively over a sustained period of time to ensure that students under our care have every opportunity to become outstanding learners who can make a real contribution both now and in the future.

A project group has recently been established between our two organisations to explore the options and possibilities of further extending this successful work, that recognises and promotes our own individual schools whilst, at the same time, builds further upon the significant opportunities that enhanced partnership work brings. The project group has therefore begun to explore some initial thoughts that could work positively towards setting up a ‘Falmouth MAT’ between Falmouth School and the Killigrew Partnership.

Our families and our community are a real strength of our schools and it is important therefore that we inform you of these initial discussions that may be drawn up into a more formal proposal. At this early stage it is important to reassure you that you will have plenty of time to consider the details, and ask questions, if a formal proposal is created.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss the details above or any aspect of the work of the school. Please don’t forget, both the Chair of Governors and myself are available together, without appointment, on the first Monday of each month (for further details please see the Governance Section on the school website – www.falmouthschool.net).
