I would like to begin my latest letter by thanking you all for an absolutely fantastic response to our appeal for donations for the Ukraine. We received so many donations that the charity who have collected all of the goods, have had to return to the school four times as their vans were so packed! The generosity of the community has been truly overwhelming-thank you!

I hope that you are all well and that the month of March, heralding the start of Spring, has started positively for you.
Our first two weeks back in school have been very positive. Students returned to a new behaviour system and this has resulted in a calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school. I hope that your children have been given lots of praise points and I know, from scrutinising the data each day, that there is very healthy competition from some Tutor groups to be the first to win a prize for the whole class. My sincere thanks to Mrs Bennie, who has co-ordinated the new Praise Points system and to staff who are giving up time to offer special experiences to students who give their best every day.

I would like to wish you all a very happy New Year and a healthy and fulfilling 2022.
Since I last wrote to you, the government has shared further details of the plans to help schools stay open in January and beyond. This includes the expectation that students will now wear face coverings in classrooms as well as in corridors and in communal areas. This will be reviewed by the government on Wednesday 26 January. Students are also asked to ensure that they are cleaning their hands/using hand sanitiser on a regular basis to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. We would advise students to wear layers under their uniform as they will be in well ventilated classrooms

It is hard to believe that we are now at the end of the term and that Christmas is fast approaching.
I am ever grateful to you as parents and carers for the support and encouragement that you have given your children and the school. I am also thankful to the Falmouth School Staff Team who have provided many opportunities for our students to take part in a wide variety of activities within and outside of the school day. The uptake has been exceptional and we will continue to ensure high quality extra-curricular provision in the Spring term.

As you will know, there are four Learning Cycles in each academic year, each lasting a total of nine weeks, seven of which are teaching weeks, the eighth week is an assessment week with week nine being the mastery week.

Year 11 Assessments
I am writing to you at the end of the week when our Year 11 students have been sitting assessments in a formal setting for the first time since they have been in secondary school. They should all be complemented for the mature and sensible way in which they have engaged in this.
