  • 25.02.2023 - Letter from the Headteacher

    25th February 2023
Dear Parents and Carers I am sure you are aware of the recent media coverage of student protests that have taken place in schools, both nationally and in Cornwall. There has been incitement to protest, fuelled by misreporting in the media and also by false accounts created on TikTok, which have spread often incorrect messaging and mis-messaging. Regrettably, the behaviour of a few individuals has led to major disruptions in some schools and these irresponsible actions put everyone’s safety at risk.

I feel very settled here and I know when I say ‘Falmouth School is my home now’ I truly mean it. It gives me a great sense of excitement to work with all our students and staff when pursuing our school on its journey to becoming an extraordinary place of learning and working and we have only just commenced.

    27th January 2023
Dear Parents and Carers January is drawing to a close and there are many things to share with you. It has been amazing to see so many Year 10 and Year 12 students and their families joining us for our launch of Work Experience 2023. The work experience presents a multitude of opportunities for every young person. It not only enhances the quality of education but intrinsically links all the life skills we teach across the curriculum, including mindful and polite communication, following instructions, taking responsibility for one’s actions and really thoughtfully developing positive working relationships with adults and peers.

As you will have seen from my communication to you last week we have had confirmation from NEU that members of the union intend to take formal industrial action by participating in a strike which will take place on 1 February 2023. Falmouth School will therefore only be open to Year 11 students and those students we feel would benefit from being in school rather than learning remotely at home. We would like your son/daughter to attend school on Wednesday 1 February at the normal school start time.

  • Letter Regarding Monday 19th September

    13th September 2022
Dear Parent/Carer, I am writing to inform you that following the announcement that the State Funeral for Queen Elizabeth 11 will take place on Monday 19 September, the Department for Education has stated that ‘this day will be a bank holiday and settings that are normally closed on a bank holiday should close on this day as a mark of respect. This will include schools and colleges’. Falmouth School and Sixth Form will therefore be closed on Monday 19 September. I would also like to inform you that we are increasing the ways in which we communicate with parents and carers this year. A weekly Bulletin will be published every Friday and will be available for you to read on the school website. Please click on the News heading and you will see the weekly Bulletin listed as the second item. We hope that this gives you a picture of what is happening in school and also informs you of the forthcoming events.
