Letters from the Headteacher
Update - 18 June 2021
June 18th 2021
Dear Parents and Carers
I am sure you will have heard of the increasing number of Covid cases in the local area. We have only one student case at present, our first case since February. This is an extremely low number given the growth in the number of cases over the past week. This case was from social contact over the weekend and did not arise in school as far as we are aware. Our role is then to track any close contacts and inform them that they should self-isolate for 10 days.
Throughout the pandemic we have followed the government guidelines to make sure we are protecting our community. This week I have been in touch with the local representative of Public Health England who verified that our current actions are exactly what is needed. Staff are completing rapid flow tests twice a week, the same as those students have been asked to complete. We have had situations where staff have received false positive tests which have later been overruled by a negative PCR test. I am aware that this can be unnerving when this news is heard, however, please understand we are following the guidelines very carefully.
We ask that you ensure that your child is carrying out their lateral flow tests twice each week. If they need more of these tests, please let their tutor know. We must be informed of any positive tests, as well as you reporting these on the government website https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result . The whole process is one that the government has put in place so that we can all help the NHS in dealing with the pandemic.
I am glad that the pandemic has not stopped our plans for Sports Day. This is always a fantastic day where all students can get involved in a wide variety of physical activities. Let’s hope for sunshine! There are also auditions going on for our next musical ‘We Will Rock You’. It is great to see that we can still look forward to these events and we look forward to seeing everyone getting involved!
