Letters from the Headteacher
08.03.2022 Letter to Parents
March 8th 2022
Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
I hope that you are all well and that the month of March, heralding the start of Spring, has started positively for you.
Our first two weeks back in school have been very positive. Students returned to a new behaviour system and this has resulted in a calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school. I hope that your children have been given lots of praise points and I know, from scrutinising the data each day, that there is very healthy competition from some Tutor groups to be the first to win a prize for the whole class. My sincere thanks to Mrs Bennie, who has co-ordinated the new Praise Points system and to staff who are giving up time to offer special experiences to students who give their best every day.
The School Production, ‘We Will Rock You’, was a fantastic success thanks to a talented cast and the dedication and persistence of the staff team who were determined for the show to be performed in front of a live audience. It was lovely to meet those of you who were able to attend and I look forward to welcoming you to many more events in the not too distant future.
Students in the Sixth Form have been busy organising and co-ordinating our school response to the conflict in the Ukraine. Here is a message that they have asked me to share with you on their behalf:
Over the course of this week, we will be holding a collection point in the Front of School by Reception, for any items from the following list to be donated to people taking refuge from the humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine.
We would be very grateful for any donation which includes, ultimately, anything you would need if you and your family had to flee your home. We have now given a brief presentation as part of an Assembly on Wednesday morning about what is happening in the Ukraine and the devastating impact the war is having on the Ukrainian people.
Next week, each year group will have a day to bring in cakes to hold a bake sale. The money raised will go to UNICEF, who are helping to provide clean water, food, supplies and protection to the 7.5 million children of the Ukraine, many of whom have had to flee their homes, suffered injuries or have been separated from their families. Any donations will be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
With all good wishes,
Brenda de Sousa
