    The announcement of the measures for the second national lockdown from Thursday will affect all of our daily lives once again. The government have released their guidance for schools which, in brief, is that we shall continue with our in-school measures to minimise the risk of infection with all the normal functions of a school day with some changes to after school provision, face coverings and changing for PE.

    Today marks the end of our review period, where teachers have been recapping on work covered during the school closure. So far classes have focussed on reviewing this work and offering learning activities that deepen understanding, whilst welfare staff and tutors have been checking that students feel safe in school following lockdown.

    Next week we will move into October and students are now well used to the arrangements that we have in place in school. I have spoken to students and they are happy with their zones and how we have adjusted how school works at the moment.

    As we move into the second week of term students are getting used to the new arrangements at school. We are asking students to wear their face coverings when they are in the busy corridors. This shows respect for other students and staff around them. Please make sure they have their face covering with them every day.

    As we approach the end of our first week it has been fantastic to see all of our students back in school. I have remarked before that an empty school is a rather sad place. Our classrooms are now filled with young people and the importance of education on their academic, social and personal development is clear to see. A number students have even told me that they are glad to be back in school!
