A planning application for the new Falmouth School Sports Development has been submitted, following a full public consultation. The planning in place is for a full size floodlit 3G artificial pitch (due for completion at the end of 2016) and a community sports hub, which would include; a state of the art gym, sports education facilities, a viewing balcony, a function room and changing facilities.
Following an agreement with Cornwall Council and the NHS, Falmouth School purchased the land on the Budock Hospital site and work has already begun on replacement grass sports pitches, to mitigate the loss of the pitches sold at union corner.
Assistant Head at Falmouth School Jem Wallis spoke of his excitement at the project. “Falmouth school are thrilled to be in a position to be able to create this fantastic opportunity for the students and community. We have consulted nationally and locally to produce the right scheme with discussion and support from Westminster along with a wide variety of local clubs and individuals along the way. The development will be an amazing facility for the school that will be open to the community, clearly signalling our commitment to providing quality opportunities for Falmouth and its surrounding area.”
There are a variety of courses available at Falmouth College, including Art & Design, Product Design, Construction and Horticulture. For more information, please come along to the College Open Evening on Thursday 4 February, visit our website or follow us on our social media channels.
