West Cornwall County Cup competition

Football round up as both year 10 and year 7 football teams are into the the next round of the West Cornwall County Cup competition.

To kick it off, on Monday the year 10 team played Mullion in the 2nd round of the competition. After taking the lead half way through the first half Mullion equalised straight after with a wonder goal with that half end 1-1. Falmouth continue to have lots of possession and started to create more chance they took the lead again. However, Mullion did not rest and from the restart they attacked and scored from the next corner. The team didn’t panic and they kept to our tactics and with three minutes to go Falmouth scored the winner making it 3-2.

On Tuesday, the Year 7 team travelled to Richard Lander for their 2nd round match in the competition. The match started and both teams started quickly and both goalkeepers were making lots of saves keeping the score line level for the first half. After the break and a couple of tactical changes Falmouth continued to create more and more chances as they were more direct with the ball. This lead to the opening goal halfway through the second half. This inspired the team further and we continued to defend well and keep hold of the ball. With five minutes to go, Falmouth gained a corner which resulted in the team scoring making it 2-0 and the team held on to win the match.

Both teams are now in the quarter final stages of the competition. All the players involved show tremendous determination and resilience and should be very proud in their performances.
