Falmouth School are delighted to announce that two of our students have recently won 1st Prize in two age categories at the Young People's Art Prize ran by Newlyn and The Exchange Gallery. The theme this year was, "What is your Issue?" which provided some inspirational pieces.
In what is a highly regarded competition there were many entries from schools across Cornwall, with a high number of Falmouth School students catching the eye. Roberta Jenkins took top spot in the 11-13 category with her very creative, mixed media piece called "Protest". Congratulations also go to Eva Reid, Zoe Leonard and Ava Rudolph who were shortlisted in this category.
Gabriel Higgins took first place in the 14-16 category with his thought provoking painting. Congratulations also to Grace Bennett, Phoebe Hulme and Tegan Underwood who were shortlisted in this category. As the Newlyn and Exchange Galleries are currently closed the gallery plan to exhibit the shortlisted and winning work online in a virtual gallery, which you can view or their website or Facebook page.
Art teacher at Falmouth School, Rowena Tarplee, said “A huge well done must go to everyone. We are extremely proud of the talents of our artists and the creativity of students of Falmouth School.”
