It was another fantastic night at Falmouth School with the Post 16 College Open Evening this week. An excellent number of students and parents visited the site to find out more about what could be the best options for them after their GCSEs and beyond. The evening began in the library, with a presentation from Head of College Dr Matt Fox, before visitors made their way around the school. Current Falmouth College students were also on hand to speak of their own personal experiences and future plans.
Subject bases for the night were dotted around the school, but the college area was a hive of activity with workshops and stalls in the study and common room areas. Students and parents had the opportunity to learn more about a variety of subjects and discuss options with tutors and teachers. There is no shortage of course options at Falmouth with something for everyone and various qualifications, including: Applied Science, Art & Design, Biology, Childcare, Chemistry, Construction, Economics, English Language, English Literature, EPQ, Film Studies, French, Food & Nutrition, Geography, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, History, Mathematics, Further Maths, Media, Music, PE & Sport, Performance, Photography, Physics, Politics, Product Design, Psychology, Sociology and Spanish.
The college is regionally and nationally high achieving, offering excellent benefits and has been named as the top school in Cornwall for various measures. These benefits include: free transport from the surrounding areas, courses run in conjunction with Falmouth University and Exeter University, Plymouth Argyle Football Club, Medical Academy, bespoke Hair Academy, small classes to ensure you get the attention you need and great results from a wide variety of courses. There’s also the added bonus of our fantastic facilities at the Falmouth Sports Hub.
Head of College Dr Matt Fox, was pleased with the response on the evening and hopes to see many of the same faces at Falmouth College in September. “It was fantastic to see the College so busy and everyone taking such a keen interest” he said. “Falmouth College is a vibrant, innovative and successful provider of post 16 courses for students in the Falmouth and Penryn area. We are very proud of Falmouth College and we are confident that we will continue to realise the high levels of success we are currently achieving with our next group of students.”
