Christmas Concert 2019

DSC_0076

It was another fantastic night at Falmouth School this week, with the annual Christmas Concert once again highlighting the superb talents of our students. There was plenty of Christmas spirit and festive cheer, with a diverse programme of performances including students from Years 7 to 13, College students and primary students from one of our MAT schools in front of what was a packed crowd in the main hall.

The evening was once again superbly compered by Head Boy, Reuben Hesser, who was busy as usual in between his hosting role, performances and even conducting! The Brass Group kicked things off with ‘Wonkey Donkey’s Christmas Holiday’, followed by a lovely duet from Lily Ford and Lottie Jose. The Woodwind Ensemble churned out a festive classic with ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ before the trio of Ellie McNeall, Savanna Maddock and Sky Lucas showcased their superb harmonies in ‘Winter Wonderland’.

The pace of the evening slowed for the next few numbers, with the Guitar Group playing some classic pieces and some fantastic piano solos from Sennen Addinall and Sophia Hudson. The String Group put their own spin on ‘Sleigh Ride’, before the tempo picked up again with Izzy Macpherson’s rendition of ‘Let it Snow’. There were two fantastic performances from rock bands ‘Carpet Cav’ and ‘Oc3an’, as well as another lovely harmony duet from Cerys Wilcox and Esmee Wyatt of some Christmas classics.

There was a unique performance of a skit from ‘Merry Christmas Mr Bean’, including staff and students that had the audience giggling, before getting back to more serious matters with a trio of Christmas favourites from the Pop Choir. Year 13 students Marcia Hammond and Brooke Williams gave a stunning performance of ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ in the penultimate act, before the Brass Group rounded off a wonderful evening with ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’, ‘All I Want For Christmas’ and ‘Feliz Navidad’.

Head of Music, Matt Fox, was delighted with the turn out and performances. “It was fantastic to see so many people here supporting the school and the students who have been great. There is so much talent at Falmouth School and nights like this just give an opportunity to highlight it. Thanks again to all of our peripatetic support and everyone who helped put on the concert. It was definitely one of the best Christmas Concerts we’ve ever had,” he said.
