Year 9 student Nia Bailey Jones showed incredible bravery by ‘Braving the Shave’, to raise an incredible amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Nia’s head shave took place just before Christmas and after a huge amount of buzz and support from within the school, she was cheered on by fellow students during the shave.
Nia’s total raised currently stands at a whopping £1700 and counting, with nearly £300 of the total coming from staff and students at Falmouth School. The cause was one close to the heart of Nia, who is originally from Wales. Nia said “My mum had cancer and it was tough on all our friends and family but thanks to Macmillan we received the guidance and support to get through it.”
Head of School Alex George said “It is fabulous that Nia has raised this money, there cannot be any family that has not in some way been affected by cancer and we were delighted to be able to support Nia with this fundraising for such a worthy cause.”
