Last week marked the end of a busy period of hard work, revision and exams for Year 11 as they celebrated in style with their completion assembly and Prom. The annual Year 11 completion assembly gave the year group a chance to look back over five years at Falmouth School with photo and video memories providing plenty of laughs and a few tears, as teachers and parents joined students to celebrate.
The main event took place the following night, with the 2017 Prom. It was a chance for students to let their hair down after a busy few months as nearly 200 arrived at the Penmorvah Manor hotel for a third consecutive year. The weather was kind and stayed dry and there was a real buzz at the hotel as students arrived in various sports cars and even an artic lorry!
The girls arrived looking glamorous in their gowns, with the boys equally dapper in their suits and tuxedos. As is tradition, the students took to the hotel lawns for a group shot to the stunning backdrop of the sea. Students then headed inside for a three course meal, enjoying each other’s company potentially for the last time together as a year group.
The photobooth was a hive of activity later on in the night providing lots of laughs as friends took photos together whilst the dancing was also in full flow during the dj set after dinner. The group certainly made the most of their time together, creating more memories as they head into the long summer break before many return to Falmouth College in September
Headteacher Mr Miners, spoke of how the evening was an enjoyable event for all. “As ever the Prom was a fantastic occasion and one of the most memorable we have had. The students and staff had an excellent and well deserved evening.”
