More Success for Lauren
Falmouth School’s Lauren Turvey picked up her third victory in as many rounds to progress once again in the Rotary Young Chef Competition. Lauren has already tasted success with her culinary skills in the School and Cornish rounds, making it a hat trick in the Area Final held in Barnstaple.
Lauren will now compete at the Regional Finals on 1 April with the prize at stake being a place in the National Final. Much like in the first two rounds, Lauren wowed the judges with her three course menu that has proved to be both extremely popular and successful, not to mention delicious.
Lauren competed against nine other finalists and once again was the youngest student in the competition. Technology teacher Miss Gaiety spoke of how proud everyone at Falmouth School is of Lauren. “The whole school is behind Lauren and we’re incredibly proud of what she’s done even to this point. I’m sure everyone will be keeping a keen eye on her progress in April and we all hope she can progress to the National Final.”
A reminder of Lauren’s popular Menu:
Starter - Pan fried monkfish served on a bed of leeks with a chilli and garlic butter.
Main - Cornish breast of chicken wrapped in prosciutto ham, roasted seasonal vegetables, dauphinoise potatoes and a redcurrant jus.
Dessert - Vanilla and cinnamon poached pear, handpicked blackberries with homemade shortbread.
