Falmouth School Statement

Falmouth School are delighted to announce that Cornwall County Council have approved plans for our new Sports Hub and 3G Sports Pitch. This exciting project signals the next phase of the schools development with the facilities offering both students and the community an inspirational space to take part in sport and lead healthy and active lifestyles.
Since the first thoughts about this development initially came into being, it has been recognised as being a great opportunity for Falmouth. A sporting legacy to the 2012 Olympics; this project is Falmouth’s opportunity to develop its sporting provision for generations to come.
The support for the schools aspirations has been tremendous from the whole community, with individuals, teams and organisations coming forward to back the scheme. The Premier League & the FA Facilities Fund have provided a grant of nearly £400,000 in support of the project, recognising the fantastic provision for sport offered by the schools project.
The development will be used by both school and the public and will feature a full size floodlit 3G artificial pitch and a community sports hub, which would include; a state of the art gym and fitness suite, sports education rooms, a viewing balcony and changing facilities.
Headteacher, Brett Miners said “The school was delighted to receive planning consent to enable the development of this incredibly important community facility. We will now be engaging with contractors to start the construction of the 3G pitch. We also hope to hear news of planning consent on Union Corner in the very near future so the resources released from the sale of land can be used to deliver all aspects of the project.”
Director of Sport, Jem Wallis said “This is such good news for Falmouth. We have worked with the community over the last three years to get this facility and we would like to thank all of those who have supported us. The future for sport in Falmouth is now secured for generations to come.”
Work will commence on the project in the coming weeks.
