Starting to take shape

We are really pleased with the progress being made on the new Sports Hub facility, especially seeing some of the winter storms we have had to endure!  The 3G pitch foundations are in and much of the fencing is currently being worked on.  The pavilion’s steel structure appeared just before Christmas quickly followed by the first floor.  We will see the flooring finished off and then the roof will be installed before the walls complete the main structure of the building.  The building itself should be finished in July at which point the carpet for the 3G can be laid, fencing completed and then the final works involving car parking and access road finalising the works ready for a September opening.  The grass pitches are constructed and the work needed to ensure these are ready for September is currently being planned out for spring.

Thank you to everyone for their support and interest in the new facility.  We will be looking to advertise the community elements of the Sports Hub very soon – watch this space!

Work begins!

We are very excited that work has now begun on our 3G and pavilion and we are now only months away from seeing these new state of the art facilities become a reality for our students and community. These facilities will be on offer to our new intake as we expect the works to be completed during Summer 2018.  Normal service will continue during the build and if you have any need of sports or community hire during this build period please contact the school on 01326 372386 for information.

Sports Development Update

Thank you for all of the support we have had from the community for the school’s sport development.

Everyone will I’m sure have been watching the houses go up on the old school fields and will have been aware of the amount of earth being moved on the old hospital site as we replace the fields that the houses are being built on.  You can see in the picture that the construction is almost complete and what a difference this will make to the school as we join our fields together onto one single site.  This work is going really well and we should be finished with the construction of these new drained pitches at the end of the summer.

The next phase of the work is the development of the new all-weather pitch and the sports pavilion that will serve as a school and community sports hub.  I’m pleased to report that we are currently on track to begin construction in autumn 2017.  You might have seen in the last week or so a survey come out to ask for your views on gym use to help us plan the facility around your needs.

These are really exciting times for the school and the town and we can’t wait to open the doors on the new building sometime during late spring 2018.
