Course Outline

This course progressively builds on the study and practice of a number of modules, chosen for the development of individual skills, such as acting or contemporary dance, with group work and public performances. Each module is continuously assessed through practical projects which are set in a vocational context and students are also required to keep their own
personal portfolio which includes further written evidence in the form of a log or production file. You will study eighteen units including: Performing Arts Business, Principles of Acting, Dance Performance, Film & TV Acting, Contemporary Theatre Performance. These units provide students with a variety of skills which reflects current trends in the performing arts industry
where performers are asked to have a wide variation of skills. The Diploma in Performing Arts also prepares students to be independent learners and students will be given an opportunity in their second year to study an individual investigation in a performance project of their own choice.

Future Career Opportunities

The course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, the understanding and the skills required for success within the Performing Arts Industry. The course also ensures progression to Higher Education, particularly Degree courses in related disciplines along with an excellent broader base of the wider skills required for a vast selection of other specialist subjects.
