Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships

Working in partnership with Adult Education we are able to offer a range of apprenticeships to students in the 6th Form. Currently these include:
  • Intermediate Apprenticeship IT Technician
  • Intermediate Apprentice Office Administration Assistant
These qualifications are designed to provide students with a practicalwork-based learning programme which supports their employability needs and gives them valuable experience in work through a supported programme. Unlike other vocational programmes, students on an apprenticeship are employed by their placement and will receive an income from their work, currently set at £3.30 per hour. Apprenticeships are designed for students who have a clear career plan and focuses on
preparing them for work in their chosen business sector. Because of this work, hours are set by the employer rather than on the school day but this means that students get a true experience of employment

To achieve your apprenticeship you will be given full support and guidance to enable you to complete the underpinning learning which includes:
  • An NVQ Diploma relevant to your chosen sector of employment
  • Functional English Level 2
  • Functional Maths Level 2
  • Functional ICT Level 2
  • Employability Level 2
Alongside these qualifications you will also be given support and guidance to improve your personal learning and thinking skills with the focus on getting you career ready. At the end of the course you will be given support and guidance in finding and applying for your first job or further education placement.
